ARC/SEC Lab Thesis Student Work
Reassembled Space and Perspectives’ is an architectural research project that explores new potentials of hybrid spaces through the use of technology. It consists of a 1:1 scale set up of a rearranged space; with furnishings oriented towards either the floor or the wall, viewed in a detached, third person perspective through the Meta Quest Pro; a mixed reality headset.
During the process, objectification of the physical body and world occurs, abstracted into an array digital of images, which is fed directly into the eyes. The project investigates concepts of orientation, height hierarchy, power and surveillance, architectural images and operational images, voyeurism, outer body experiences with references to Olaf Blanke’s works, dual existences of the virtual and physical, and the rearrangement of space and perspectives in a search for a new potential for spaces.
